October’s Hurricane Zeta caused millions in damage to Mississippi’s Gulf Coast casinos with various properties filing for more than $50 million in repair permits.

According to the Biloxi Sun Herald, Mississippi-based Yates Construction recently filed for $48 million in building permits to repair damage to four of the eight resorts in Biloxi. The city has issued permits for $20 million for repairs to the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino, and another $20 million for the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The city also issued permits for $5 million in repairs for the IP Casino Resort and Spa and $3 million for Harrah’s Gulf Coast Hotel and Casino, the newspaper reported.

The casinos applied for permits to repair parking garages that were flooded in the storm surge as well as electrical and plumbing systems which were damaged. Some casinos were closed for several days after the hurricane without power.

Hurricane Zeta came ashore October near Cocodrie, Louisiana, south of New Orleans, with sustained winds over 100mph.

The storm also caused some New Orleans casinos to close, but the properties did not receive major damage.
