New York’s Resorts World Catskills is pumping up its marketing team with some seasoned Northeast muscle.
The $1 billion, 330-room resort, which opened in Monticello on February 8 as the last, and largest, of the state’s four commercial casinos, has named former Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun marketing guru Robert Victoria as CMO and filled four other top marketing posts with Foxwoods alumni, including two who also worked at Mohegan Sun.
Victoria, who held the position of chief marketing officer at Foxwoods from 2009-11 and previously served as vice president of casino marketing at Mohegan Sun, will oversee all marketing and sales initiatives, including casino services, promotions, customer development, entertainment, resort and hotel sales, advertising, data base marketing, e-commerce, public relations and brand management.
A 25-year industry veteran, his resume includes stints at New York’s Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel, the former Sands Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, Harrah’s Atlantic City and Seminole Gaming Corp.
“We’re confident that his vast industry experience, coupled with his innovative approach to marketing, will help ensure the long-term growth and success of Resorts World Catskills,” said Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Kevin Kline.
Joining Victoria are Joseph DeCarlo as vice president of casino marketing; Tara Gregson as vice president of consumer marketing; Ron Caverly as executive director of guest services; and Dino Trombino as director of player development for new markets.
Like Victoria, De Carlo, Caverly, Trombino and Gregson all worked at Foxwoods.
DeCarlo started at the Sands in Atlantic City, later moving to Trump’s Castle in Atlantic City, then to Foxwoods in 1992. He most recently served as vice president of casino marketing at Resorts World Bimini.
Gregson has more than 20 years’ experience in marketing, promotions and brand development, most recently at Webster Bank, where she served as senior vice president of brand marketing, strategic partnerships and creative services. She worked with Victoria as vice president of brand strategy at Foxwoods and from 2003 to 2008 was executive director of advertising for Seneca Gaming.
Trombino put in a combined 23 years at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun as an executive host. Most recently, he worked at Resorts World Bimini in the Bahamas.
Caverly, who has worked with Victoria for more than 20 years, also launched his career at Foxwoods and later moved to Mohegan Sun. Later, he served in management positions at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood Hotel and Casino in Florida and with Seneca Gaming Corp.
