Peninsula Pacific Entertainment has said its new Cedar Crossing Casino and Entertainment Center in Iowa remains “on track” to open on New Year’s Eve 2026.
Kim Pang, Vice President of Development at Peninsula, made the plege to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission (IRGC). He was updating the regulator on construction progress at the Cedar Rapids location.
Work has been ongoing since the IRGC gave the project the green light in February of this year. The regulator issued a license to Linn County, allowing Peninsula to proceed with the project.
“At the end of this month, we’re looking at getting the foundation in,” Pang said according to KWQC. “Later this summer, we’ll get the exterior up. By fall, we’ll erect the steel.
“By winter, we’ll get the roof up and go inside and do the interior.”
New Cedar Crossing Casino to Drive Tourism
Spread across an area of 16 acres, the new property is being built at a cost of approximately $275 million. It is expected to create 524 full-time jobs and more than 1,000 construction jobs.
Once complete, it will feature a casino and several restaurants including Zach Johnson’s Clubhouse and River’s Edge Smokehouse. Among the other on-site amenities are a live entertainment venue, arts center and a ‘STEM Lab’ to inspire local youth in science and technology.
Riverside Casino and the Washington County Riverboat Foundation (WCRF) sought to halt the project. It filed a legal challenge on the same day the license was granted. However, this has since been denied, allowing the project to go ahead.
“We’re going to be changing lifestyles,” Pang said. “It is not just about gaming, It’s about entertainment. It’s about a place to meet. It’s everything that we need to drive more people to Linn County and Cedar Rapids.”
