Colorado Springs, Colorado-based Century Casinos recently announced it will move Carousel Casino in Caruthersville, Missouri to a land-based casino, with 20 percent more gaming positions and a 75-room hotel. The project will be completed in early 2024. Carousel Casino is Missouri’s last remaining riverboat on open water.
Century Casinos officials also announced plans to build a 9-story, 75-room hotel attached to its Century Casino Cape Girardeau, expected to open in late 2023. The total combined investment for the projects will be $68.3 million.
Also, Century Casinos will build housing for up to 30 of its “current and future” workers in Cripple Creek, Colorado, to be ready by September.
In a third-quarter report, Century Casinos Co-Chief Executive Officer Peter Hoetzinger said, “The quarter showed continued strength and momentum across all our local and regional properties and businesses. We saw impressive growth with increased visitation, more time on device and higher spend per visit across our database and market. We continued to benefit from strong regional demand and the preference for close-to-home entertainment.”
Hoetzinger said earnings per share and revenue both topped Wall Street forecasts. He said Century Casinos’ net income was $11. 2 million, or 36 cents per diluted share, for the three months ended September 30, an increase from net income of $3.7 million, or 13 cents per share, over the same period in 2020.
Century Casinos owns three hotel-casinos and a racetrack in Canada, five casinos in the United States, one in England and, through a subsidiary, a two-thirds stake in Casinos Poland.
