The U.K. Gambling Commission has compiled a shortlist of potential Commission chairs. The list includes Conservative peer Lord Chadlington (Peter Selwyn Gummer); former Deloitte board member Marcus Boyle; and Responsible Gambling Strategy Board Chair Anna van der Gaag.
The new chairman, who will replace Bill Moyes, will coordinate the process of selecting a new chief executive. The position has been vacant since March following the unexpected resignation of Neil McArthur in the wake of the collapse of Football Index, according to SBCNews.
For now, the position is staffed by an interim CEO, Andrew Rhodes, who replaced Sarah Gardner in June. The new chair will also oversee the Fourth National Lottery License.
A leading voice for safer gambling protections Lord Chadlington in 2019 spearheaded the industry’s Top-5 corporate pledge, a directive which saw Entain, Flutter, bet365, Sky Bet and William Hill commit to funding 1 percent of GGY to gambling research education and treatment programs.
His charity, Action Against Gambling Harms, has persuaded the five largest operators in the U.K. to make the £100 million (US$138.7 million) voluntary donation.
The Commission launched a ‘three-year corporate strategy’ that outlined the principal objectives of improving the industry’s consumer redress and enhancing customer affordability checks for gambling.
