Galaxy Entertainment Group has appointed Ted Chan as chief operating officer for its Japan development team, the company has announced. The appointment was effective April 10.
The former Melco COO, who will be based in Japan as it prepares to launch its legal casino industry, has “extensive” experience in gaming resort, hospitality and business development, GEG said. Chan resigned from Melco Crown Entertainment in November 2016 for “personal reasons,” according to the Macau News Agency.
GEG Vice-Chairman Francis Lui said Chan “will add significant value to our existing team and successfully drive the execution of our Japan International expansion ambitions.”
The company has also nominated Michael Mecca for the role of board director. Mecca has been with the company since 2009, when he joined as president and chief operating officer for Macau operations. He took the position as president for international development in 2015.
Lui said that Mecca has “played a key leadership role with the management team in growing the company to become a leading gaming operator.”
