Chile Opens Casino Bidding

Chile’s Superintendence for Gambling Casinos has opened the tender process for seven municipal casinos. Sites under consideration include Arica, Iquique, Coquimbo, Viña del Mar, Pucón, Puerto Varas and Natales.

Proposals must be complete by November

Chile has begun accepting bids from casino operators who want to develop seven gaming resorts in the South American country. Casinos are expected to be sited in Arica, Iquique, Coquimbo, Viña del Mar, Pucon, Puerto Varas and Natales, according to one report.

The website CalvinAyre.com reported last week that the Superintendence for Gambling Casinos wants proposals and the accompanying documentation ready for public consideration by November.

A hearing at that time will verify that the bidders meet all the criteria, after which bidders will be evaluated for compliance, financial strength, and project details. The bidders will be ranked based on these criteria.

Chile now has 12 casinos in 10 cities. The largest is in Vina del Mar, with 90 table games and more than 1,500 gaming and slot machines. Coquimbo has two casinos, four slot machines, and 10 table games.
