Chilean Firm Now Owns Half of Sun Dreams

Chilean company Nueva Inversiones Pacífico Sur has acquired an additional 15 percent share in South African casino and hotel company Sun International, which owns Sun Dreams (l.),. for a total ownership stake of 50 percent.

Chilean construction firm Nueva Inversiones Pacífico Sur has acquired an additional 15 percent share of South African casino and hotel company Sun International. On approval from regulators, it will have a total ownership stake of 50 percent.

Jaime Wilhelm, general manager of Sun Dreams, told Chilean financial commissioners that Sun International will retain 50 percent control of the company.

Sun Dreams operates casinos in Iquique, San Francisco de Mostazal, Temuco, Valdivia, Coyhaique and Punta Arenas in Chile; eight operations in Lima, Peru; two in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia; two in Panama City, Panama; and a casino in Mendoza, Argentina.
