China Blocks Online Poker Apps

The Chinese government has moved to block several online poker apps, including Poker King, an app which reportedly takes in about $7.1 million in daily bets from the country. The move continues a Chinese crackdown on “inappropriate” online content for the country’s 700 million users.

China has moved to block more online poker apps, including Poker King, an app that reportedly sees $7.1 million in bets from China daily on Android and IOS platforms. Another major app blocked is Poker Tribe.

The Chinese government says the move is part of a bigger crackdown on “inappropriate” online content for its 700 million users.

China has previously blocked other poker apps and Apple reportedly removed thousands of apps in an effort to comply with new Chinese regulations.

Platforms like Poker King have said they have the legal right to run online gambling businesses under licenses issued by the Philippines, according to Chinese media reports. However, reports also say that several online gambling platforms often change their names to re-enter the market after previously being forced to close.
