The first phase of a multi-million dollar expansion recently was completed at the Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Oklahoma, an AAA Four Diamond resort and entertainment destination. Before a sold-out concert in the new 3,000-seat Grand Theater, members of the rock band Aerosmith joined Choctaw Nation Chief Gary Batton and other dignitaries at the ribbon-cutting of the new multi-purpose, three-level convention and event venue with more than 100,000 square feet of convention and event space, including balcony suites and state-of-the-art video and sound equipment.
Executive Director of Gaming Janie Dillard said, “For a small bingo operation to where it is today. Making multi-millions of dollars for our tribe, sending people to college and helping our elderly with health care and everything else. So yes, I have a lot of pride tonight.” She noted the expansion created 400 new jobs.
The first phase of the expansion also includes renovation of the Oasis pool area featuring with four tropical pools, three spas and private rental cabanas plus activities for children.
The second phase will include Parrot Beach Bar & Grill and the new Spa Tower, a 14-story hotel tower that will bring the total number of rooms to approximately 700, plus a full-service spa including a hair and nail salon.
The final phase of the expansion, called the District, will open in September 2015 with a three-venue food court, sports bar, 20-lane bowling alley, arcade, laser tag and cinema complex with four state-of-the-art theaters.
