Choctaw Nation Expands Durant Casino Resort

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma recently announced it will commence its fourth major expansion at its Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, which opened in 2006. Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Chief Gary Batton said, “More than 30 years ago our tribe had the vision to begin this expedition by purchasing the 50 acres that the resort resides on today. The property was the starting point for many wonderful things to come for our tribe. We are elated to continue to grow with our community and improve the lives of our tribal and community members. This expansion will help the local economy and meet the demands of our growing customer base.”

Officials said ground will be broken in the spring and the project will be completed within two years. It will create 1,000 new jobs and include larger gaming space, additional hotel rooms, extra parking, expanded entertainment options, a new swimming pool and lazy river, a new conference center, new dining options and additional retail.

The bribe expanded its original 100,000 casino space and built the Grand Tower hotel in 2010. Another tower was built, plus a spa, theater and family entertainment were added in 2015. Currently the casino offers 4,000 slots and 60 table games. The resort offers 776 hotel rooms, multiple pools and a three-story entertainment and convention center.

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma operates casino resorts in Durant, Grant, Pocola, Stringtown, McAlester, Stigler, Idabel and Broken Bow.
