A poker blogger hired to cover a poker tournament at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket Connecticut has been given probation after being charged with helping himself to about 0 in dealers’ tips at the tournament.
According to police, Newnum, 41, from Fishers Indiana, used chopsticks to “fish” the money from the dealers’ tip box at the tournament.
Newnum, has returned the money and announced in a blog post that he plans to “step away from the poker world indefinitely,” according to published reports.
The Day of New London reports that Newnum was arrested on a misdemeanor larceny charge last month for the theft. Newnum was granted accelerated rehabilitation, which allows charges to be erased after probation.
Newnum has also been banned from Foxwoods, according to reports.
