David Chow will retire and step down as co-chair of Macau Legend’s board of directors, while his wife, Melinda Chan, has been named an executive director, according to the company.
Chow first announced his retirement at Macau Legend’s annual meeting on August 16, citing a desire to “focus on his other commitments.”
The outspoken former lawmaker has been extremely critical of how the government has handled the recovery of the area’s economy throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, but the company said in a statement that Chow “confirmed that he has no disagreement with the Board and the Company.”
Chow’s wife, Melinda Chan, was appointed as an executive director after receiving the requisite votes. The company also listed Chan as CEO, and named Li Chu Kwan as its new chairman.
Macau Legend previously announced on August 9 that it was selling off US$24.5 million worth of bonds, which would result in a loss of nearly $1 million for the company.
