Chris Schroder was recently named Colorado’s gaming director, taking over for Dan Hartman, who retired in May.
In his new position, Schroder will play a vital role in overseeing and guiding the development of the gaming industry in the state. His responsibilities include formulating and implementing strategic plans, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, fostering partnerships with key stakeholders and promoting responsible gaming practices.
Sitting down with PlayColorado, Schroder talked about the position and what he hopes to accomplish.
“When I previously worked in Colorado, I highly respected and appreciated the role of the Division of Gaming in regulating the gaming industry. To now be a member of this team, working alongside this group of dedicated experts in gaming, is truly an honor.”
Schroder has an impressive background in the gaming industry. With a degree in Business Administration and a specialization in Gaming Management, Schroder hopes to hone his skills and knowledge to excel in his new role.
Prior to his appointment, he held various leadership positions in renowned gaming companies, where he successfully implemented strategic initiatives and drove significant growth. Schroder’s passion for gaming, coupled with his business acumen, makes him the perfect fit to lead the gaming industry in Colorado.
Schroder’s vision is centered around creating a world-class gaming experience that caters to all demographics. Schroder believes in striking a balance between traditional brick-and-mortar casinos and the ever-expanding digital gaming landscape. By embracing technology, fostering innovation, and prioritizing customer satisfaction, Schroder aims to position Colorado as a premier gaming destination, attracting both domestic and international visitors.
The biggest priority, Schroder said, is responsible gaming. He told PlayColorado he wants to increase education and resources for the state’s gamblers.
“Responsible gaming is a priority of mine, as well as of the division. We will soon introduce a statewide self-exclusion program that will give Coloradans the education and resources to make appropriate decisions for themselves and the opportunity to set their limits across all gaming in Colorado.”
