Chumash Casino Completes $165 Million Renovation

A tribe in Central California recently completed a two-year $165 million renovation that included a new hotel and enlarge gaming space for a total of 2,300 slot machines. The tribe and casino will celebrate the expansion this week.

The Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, California July 13 will celebrate the completion of a two-year 5 million renovation project that included a new 12-story hotel tower, a rooftop swimming pool, expanded spa, additional dining and an enlarged casino floor to enclose a total of 2,300 slots.

The renovation also included a new ventilation system designed to cleanse the air of smoke.

The High Limit room with 125 slots has been expanded and given its own amenities, such as restrooms and concierge service.

Large flat-screen TV screens have been added. Poker tables will now have cell phone charging stations.

Stevie Wonder was scheduled to perform at the new 1,400-seat showroom to celebrate the renovation.

The resort hotel opened in 2004 with 106 rooms and 19 suites and now has 320 rooms and 55 suites.

To accommodate the increased number of guests the expansion is expected to attract, the property has also added 500 parking spaces.
