Churchill Downs Announces Key Management Changes

Churchill Downs Inc. recently announced several changes in senior personnel, effective immediately. After 15 years with the company, Senior Vice President of Gaming Operations Austin Miller will retire March 1 and will be replaced by Maureen Adams, who has served as vice president of gaming operations since 2019. Also, Ryan Jordan has been promoted to senior vice president of real estate development.

Miller joined Churchill Downs as president at Fair Ground Race Course & Slots in New Orleans, where he supervised the design, construction and opening of the company’s first racino. Miller also was president at Calder Casino in Miami Gardens, Florida. In 2013 he moved to Churchill Downs’ corporate headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky to assume his current position.

Churchill Downs President and Chief Operating Officer Bill Mudd commented, “Austin has been central to the growth and evolution of CDI over the years. His bold and creative vision for the company’s gaming properties will have an enduring impact. I am grateful for his leadership during a transformative time and wish him nothing but the best in his retirement.”

In her current role, Adams oversees the day-to-day operation of eight gaming properties and the centralized marketing and analysis department. Previously she was president and general manager at Calder Casino in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Mudd said, “Maureen brings over 25 years of gaming experience in finance, marketing, operations and leadership in ten different states and two countries to this important role. Not only does she bring a proven track record of success, Maureen has a keen aptitude for inspiring and developing her team to achieve both their personal and professional goals.”

Jordan joined the company in 2009 as vice president of operations for Churchill Downs Entertainment Group and also served as general manager at Churchill Downs Racetrack. In his new position, he will lead strategic planning at existing properties and oversee design and construction for new properties.

Mudd stated, “Ryan is the ideal candidate to lead the development of new properties across our portfolio. Throughout his 12-year career with the company, he has successfully and consistently executed complex large-scale projects with a focus on operations, hospitality and entertainment.”
