Partners bidding on license in upstate NY??
Two iconic names in horse racing have joined forces to operate two casinos in New York and Colorado, and possibly a second resort in the Empire State.??“We are very excited about the expansion of our relationship with Churchill Downs,” said James D. Featherstonhaugh of Saratoga Harness Racing. “We look forward to a long and successful partnership between two iconic names in the racing and gaming world.”
The partners are also involved in a joint bid to build a casino in East Greenbush, in New York’s Capitol Region. The state is expected to license four Class III commercial operators this fall. The partnership of Churchill Downs and Saratoga is one of 16 such entities bidding for the licenses.
“We are proud to take an ownership interest in Saratoga Harness Racing Inc., which shares with us a passion for offering premier racing and gaming entertainment,” said CDI President Bill Carstanjen. “We are excited to expand our operations into New York and Colorado and hope to become more involved in the Capital Region if we are fortunate enough to be awarded a license to build and operate Capital View Casino & Resort.”??Saratoga Harness Racing has filed a second New York casino application with partner Rush Street Gaming for a New York casino in Newburgh in the Hudson Valley-Catskills Region.
