Sportsbook operator Circa Sports has announced the hiring of two veteran Las Vegas bookmakers—Richie Baccellieri is the company’s new director of product development, and Nick Bogdanovich has been named as a sportsbook manager.
Both have extensive experience throughout the sportsbook industry, which will come in handy for Circa, who has had success despite its infancy. Baccellieri previously served as sportsbook director for MGM Grand, the Palms and Caesars Palace, and Bogdanovich held similar positions at William Hill, Binion’s and the Stratosphere, among others.
Matt Metcalf, Circa’s sportsbook director, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that in terms of people he looks up to in the industry, “That list is basically Richie Baccellieri and Nick, and they both work at Circa now. That’s pretty cool.”
Bogdanovich himself was surprised at the offer, as the veteran bookmaker had been semi-retired ever since he was let go following Caesars’ acquisition of William Hill. He told the Review-Journal that Metcalf invited him to lunch to gauge his interest. “I chewed on it for a while and decided that would be a good place to make a reappearance,” said Bogdanovich.
In addition to the two outside hires, Circa also announced that sportsbook manager Chris Bennett was being promoted to director of risk, and Jeff Davis will become the newest sportsbook manager, to work alongside Bogdanovich.
