Circa Sports Opens Off-Strip Sportsbooks

Derek Stevens, who opened Circa Sports at his new Circa Las Vegas last year, is now bringing his successful sportsbook operation to the off-Strip Tuscany (l.) and the Pass in Henderson, Nevada.

Circa Sports, the sportsbook brand based at the newest Las Vegas casino, Circa Las Vegas, is also opening sports betting outlets at the Tuscany and the Pass in Henderson.

The Henderson sportsbook is preparing to take sports bets by May 1.

Derek Stevens, owner of Circa Sports, commented, “We’re excited to open up (at Tuscany) right before March Madness. The Tuscany is a great property with great ease of access, and I like what we’re doing in Henderson on Water Street.”

Stevens opened the Circa Las Vegas Sportsbook, a 1,000-seat facility considered one of the largest in the world, late last year. The Henderson opening will mark the first time he has opened a sportsbook off the Strip. Others could follow, he said. He said he hopes to open sports betting venues all over the U.S. but said he can’t share specific locations.

Joe DeSimone, owner of the Pass, formerly Eldorado Casino, planned that sports betting would be a major part of the place’s appeal and spent a while looking for the right operator. He knew after meeting with Stevens for five minutes that he was the one to do it. Circa Sports is known for catering to professional gamblers and heavy bettors.

He told CDC Gaming Reports: “When I went to visit Circa for the first time, I found it impressive. I thought the branding would be good for us but also for the city of Henderson.”

Stevens is counting on pent-up demand to bring Vegas back with a roar. “Las Vegas is coming back, and it’s coming back pretty robustly,” he said.
