CMA Examining Novomatic/Inspired Deal

Britain’s national trade agency is investigating the proposed acquisition by Inspired Entertainment of parts of Novomatic (UK), to gauge effects on competition.

Britain’s Competition and Markets Authority is investigating the proposed acquisition of parts of Novomatic UK by Inspired Entertainment.

The CMA will rule on the merger by September 20 of this year, and interested parties are invited to comment on the proposal between now and August 8.

In a statement, CMA officials said the agency is considering whether the merger would impact competition within the market.

Representations are invited to be submitted in writing to AJ Iloenyosi, Competition and Markets Authority, Victoria House, Southampton Row, London, WC1B4AD.

The acquisition was announced in June, with the Novomatic UK segments of Gamestec—the largest operator of machines in the U.K.—Playnation, the major adult gaming centers operator, and machine manufacturers Astra Games and Bell Fruit, together with machine developers Harlequin Gaming and Innov8 Gaming, all moving over to Inspired in the package.
