Nebraska and New Mexico will be the sites of the pilot testing of the new partnership between idPair and the Coalition for Fantasy Sports efforts, idPair told GGBNews. The responsible gaming technology company has new software that links self-exclusion efforts across all gaming platforms. The program is expected to launch in March 2025.
The goal is to be nationwide by the end of 2025, according to JT Foley, the executive director of the Coalition for Fantasy Sports.
The Coalition for Fantasy Sports is fantasy sports industry group made up of Betr, Dabble, PrizePicks and Underdog. idPair is a safer gaming firm working to protect player health through innovative responsible gaming tools. In October 2024, the coalition and idPair announced their collaboration on a voluntary self-exclusion product for player safety.
idPair is the first recipient of Underdog’s Responsible Gambling Innovation Fund. Underdog awarded idPair a $1 million in March.
Players will be able to self-exclude with one click
In the October announcement, the coalition and idPair said “The program will help players who choose to self-exclude to block access to multiple gaming sites in one step, giving them a chance to take a break from gaming for a period of their choice. IdPair’s advanced data anonymization ensures 100% privacy, safeguarding self-excluded users’ sensitive data.”
In the pilot launch, players will be able to self-exclude with a single click on any one of the four coalition sites for as long as the player selects.
“As soon as that button is checked and the person consents to giving their information to the group, they can self-exclude at the one operator and then check to include others in the group,” said Jonathan Aiwazian, CEO of idPair.
The information is anonymized so that operators can’t see the specifics of the person, but the coalition members are able to match it with a profile if they are registered at those sites. If a player is not registered at a coalition member site, it will match it if the player tries to register at a later date.
“If you are an existing player or a future player and you’ve self-excluded, you know that the data will be passed along to the coalition and won’t allow you to register.”
Players can self-exclude across the coalition at either the operator site or through the national voluntary self-exclusion program that the coalition operates. According to Aiwazian, more than 100,000 players voluntarily self-exclude across the U.S.
Aiwazian and Foley said that they met with attorneys general from Nebraska and New Mexico who were supportive of the program.
