South American country in search of new revenues
Proposed regulations for online gaming are under review by the Colombian gaming regulator Coljuegos and have also been released to the public for its feedback.
The website CalvinAyre.com reports that three draft bills also cover technical requirements for internet games including roulette, slots, bingo, baccarat and blackjack, along with cash poker and tournaments. Real and fantasy sports bets are also part of the legislation, with parlay, exchange, and fixed-odd wagers included in the deal. Live in-play betting would be permitted.
According to the Public Gaming Research Institute, other provisions of the legislation cover Colombian domains, which must be established by operators. Those operators must pay an administrative fee of up to 1 percent of gross gaming revenues plus taxes from 15 percent to 17 percent of GGR. The regulator reserves the right to limit bonuses. Advertisement would be permitted.
