Colorado Tribe Mulls Sportsbook

The Ute Mountain Ute Tribe in Colorado is mulling working with several firms that could help it launch a sportsbook at Ute Mountain Casino in Towaoc.

The state’s voters last November approved Proposition DD, which legalized sports betting at the state’s three casino towns: Cripple Creek, Black Hawk and Central City. This made it possible for the Ute to do the same, although the tribe took no position on the measure before its passage.

Two weeks ago, the tribe announced that it plans to offer sports wagering at the casino and now it is settling on the details. Any agreement with a firm to manage sports betting would be subject to approval by the National Indian Gaming Commission, according to Nicki Green, an attorney for the Ute Tribe.

Green told Yogonet.com that, while the tribal council wants to go forward with sports betting, no formal action is needed by it to do so.
