Connecticut Tribal Casinos See August Slot Declines

Connecticut’s Indian gaming slots revenue suffered a hit in August, with both Foxwoods Resort Casino and the Mohegan Sun reporting declines over 2019 in their August numbers.

Foxwoods kept $29.6 million, a 25 percent drop and the Mohegan Sun retained $49.6 million, an 8.7 percent decline.

Although both reopened June 1 after two month shutdowns due to Covid-19, they haven’t returned to full capacity.

Both are affected by the competition reopening in the rest of New England and particularly the New York and Massachusetts markets. However the Mohegan Sun is less affected than Foxwoods by this development.

In July the Mohegan Sun saw a small increase in slots revenue over 2019 while Foxwoods lost 20 percent the same month.
