A $330 million expansion of the Adelaide Casino, a project that South Australian Premier Steven Marshall predicts will put the state “on the map” has begun construction.
The expansion will include a hotel, bars, dining and cafes. Builder Hansen Yuncken will employ 1,000 construction workers and 800 permanent jobs will be added to the facility when it’s complete in two years. At its peak 300 workers will be on the job each day.
Marshall declared that the casino would help South Australia’s economy grow by attracted more visitors.
Plans are to remodel the existing casino building to blend in with the city’s historic railway station and “bring it back to its former glory,” according to the casino’s general manager Luke Walker.
