Construction will begin in several months on the new $125 million Quil Ceda Creek Casino, a gathering hall and marina of the Tulalip Tribes of Washington state. Tribal Chairman Teri Gobin described the projects at length in her annual “State of the Tribes” address last week to a local chamber of commerce.
The tribe will engage in economic activity that will provide 3,700 jobs and generate $270 million in salaries. Many of those jobs are held by non-tribal residents, she said.
The casino on 15 acres is expected to be completed by early 2021. It will have 500 more slots than before. The project was supposed to have been done this year but encountered a delay due to a problem with a contractor.
The tribe is also looking at adding a 150-room hotel to the mix later on, said Gobin.
The tribe will begin construction on a 57,000 square foot Gathering Hall that will hold up to 1,500 members. It is looking at a completion date of early next year.
The marina expansion will be done in three phases, said Gobin. When they are done the facility will double in size. A store and memorial to lost fishermen will be added.
The tribe has also developed a master plan for Quil Ceda Village, the tribe’s original business enterprise and tribal government center. The Tulalip Resort Casino-Hotel has an 87 percent occupancy rate.
