Julian Cook, director of New Zealand’s SkyCity Entertainment Group, will succeed Chairman Rob Campbell when the latter exits next year.
Campbell announced in October that he would be stepping down to focus on other work commitments. Cook, who joined the SkyCity board in June, will take over as group chairman on January 1 in what the company said would be an “orderly transition and handover period.”
“I am delighted that Julian has been selected by the SkyCity board to lead SkyCity as the new chair,” Campbell said.
From 2014 to 2021, Cook was CEO of retirement village operator Summerset Group Holdings; there he oversaw the company’s transition to a publicly listed company on the New Zealand and Australian stock exchanges. Prior to joining Summerset in 2010, he was an associate director at the Macquarie Group. He is currently a director at electricity distribution company WEL Networks Ltd. and Winton Property Ltd.
“I think it’s a great compromise between the stakeholders that have come to the table to have a conversation,” Kandace Stewart, a member of the rulemaking committee.
