Corcoran Considered For Uber Post

Breon Corcoran, who's leaving Paddy Power Betfair after negotiating its $9 billion merger with Betfair last year, is said to be under consideration to head Uber, following the recent resignation of General Manager for Northern Europe Jo Bertram. Corcoran has 16 years experience in the gambling industry.

Paddy Power Betfair’s outgoing Chief Executive Officer Breon Corcoran is being considered to lead the beleaguered private hire transport company Uber following the departure of General Manager for Northern Europe Jo Bertram. Uber is seeking to win back its operating license in London.

Corcoran has been in the gambling industry for more than 16 years. Last year he managed Paddy Power’s $9.29 billion merger with Betfair.

A top headhunter stated, “Gambling hasn’t always had the best public profile. Corcoran’s got an incredible track record of taking on challenges and is one of the top digital guys out there.” Facebook’s UK Director Nicola Mendelsohn also is said to be under consideration for the position.

Transport for London refused to renew Uber’s private hire license due to concerns over safety checks and crime reporting. The company’s new Global Chief Executive Dara Khosrowshahi recently met with Transport for London officials to review the matter.

Uber has 40,000 drivers and 3.5 million customers in London. The company also is seeking a UK chairman.
