The Cordish Companies picked Gilbane Building Company as general contractor for its Live! Casino Hotel in South Philadelphia, to oversee construction of the 1.5 million-square-foot facility.

Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, an affiliate of the Baltimore-based Cordish Companies, announced that Gilbane Building Company will serve as the general contractor for the new $700 million project in Philadelphia’s stadium district.

The 1.5-million-square-foot facility will include 2,200 slots and electronic table games, more than 150 live table games, an upscale 200-plus-room boutique hotel, nationally recognized restaurants and live entertainment venues, valet parking and an approximately 2,700-space parking garage.

Gilbane will lead construction efforts, including total demolition of an existing Holiday Inn and adjacent buildings at the site to make way for the new development.

Gilbane is a global, family-owned company with over 145 years of experience, covering a diverse range of building across various industries. The company also holds the same familial integrity as the Cordish family, giving back to its communities through corporate philanthropy, volunteerism and partnerships with small and diverse businesses to reach communities and support local job growth.

A Pre-Bid Contractor Information Session will be held on Friday, January 11, from 10a.m. to noon at Xfinity Live!,1100 Pattison Avenue in the South Philadelphia stadium district. The event is open to the contracting public and will include a project overview, bid package information, and the opportunity to meet one-on-one with the estimating team. Representatives from the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) will also be available.
