Cosmo Spending $100 Million To Remodel Rooms

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is making over more than 2,800 of its rooms with luxury features and the latest technologies, including a new “virtual concierge” system. The remodeling follows on the recent addition of four floors of penthouse suites to better compete for the international high end.

The Cosmopolitan has launched a 0 million-plus hotel upgrade that will make over nearly all the Las Vegas Strip resort’s 3,027 rooms.

The remodeling, slated for completion next year, comes on the heels of luxury additions that include four floors of penthouse suites and a private gaming salon to better position the resort to compete for high-end international play.

Recent renovations to the casino floor have included more slot machines and bar top video poker and the relocation of the sports book.

The room remodeling, estimated to cost “substantially more than $100 million,” according to a Cosmopolitan spokesperson, will encompass 2,895 rooms in the Boulevard and Chelsea towers. Upgrades will include a “virtual concierge” system accessible via iPads in each room. The system will allow guests to make restaurant, show and spa reservations, order room service and wake-up calls, adjust room lighting and temperature and enjoy other services.

The privately held Cosmopolitan told state regulators earlier this year that first quarter EBITDA was up over last year by 24-25 percent.
