Court Orders Okada to Be Reinstated as Tiger Resorts CEO

The Supreme Court of the Philippines has issued an order that would return billionaire businessman Kazuo Okada to his former role as chairman and CEO of Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment Inc. (TRLEI), which operates Okada Manila in the Entertainment City casino zone.

TRLEI ousted Okada and chief operating officer Takahiro Usui from the company’s board in June 2017, accusing the former of misappropriating TRLEI funds. Okada was also removed from the board of TRLEI’s parent company, Japan’s Universal Entertainment, which brought three alleged fraud cases against the Japanese mogul.

The new ruling was issued on April 27, Asia Gaming Brief reports. The news outlet added that it’s “unclear what the immediate implications are for TRLEI or its planned merger with U.S. special acquisition vehicle Capital 26.”

At the time of the misappropriation allegations, Okada contended that it was impossible for him to embezzle his own money.
