Covid-19 Restrictions Extended in Massachusetts

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker January 7 announced that the most recent Covid-19 restrictions would be extended for at least two more weeks, until January 22. The restrictions first went into effect the day before Christmas.

Businesses that are restricted to 25 capacity include the state’s three casinos, the MGM Springfield, the Encore Boston Harbor and Plainridge Parks slots parlor. Also churches, retail stores, restaurants and offices.

The governor cited the rising infection numbers and the pressure on the state’s health care system and hospital ICUs. “We know that extending those restrictions for many businesses, especially small business, is a lot to ask,” said Baker.
