Due to begin in 2026, Crown said this is an important component of a strategy to elevate its entertainment offering. The land-based operator did not state when it expects to complete the project at Crown Melbourne.
Opening its doors in 1997, The Palms hosts over 150 shows per year. However, it will now be completely upgraded into what Crown said will be a “world-class” theatre venue.
The project, Crown added, will help improve Melbourne’s tourism industry and provide an economic boost to the entertainment sector. The operator also said the new-look theatre will become one of Australia’s leading entertainment destinations.
Another investment by Crown
Confirmation of the project marks the latest by investment by Crown into its entertainment offering.
Other recent announcements include launching Marmont on Crown Melbourne’s riverwalk and Kolkata Cricket Club as a new dining experience. In addition, the Urban Food District will soon open at Crown Perth.
“The redevelopment of The Palms will allow us to attract the premier international and domestic performers and shows that we know our guests want to see at Crown,” Crown Melbourne CEO Mike Volkert said.
“This project is the first of many as part of our strategic vision to continue investing in Crown Melbourne to transform Crown into Melbourne’s ultimate entertainment destination. It will significantly contribute to Melbourne’s cultural economy as we work to revitalise our city’s nightlife, entertainment and dining experiences.”
The Crown Melbourne integrated resort is also home to a casino, hotel, spa, restaurants and bars.
