Crown Resorts will introduce card-only play for electronic gaming machines (EGMs) at its Crown Perth casino in Australia, in a move it said will make the property one of the safest in the world for responsible gambling.
From December 1, guests playing EGMs at Crown Perth must have a valid card and set time and loss limits. This will be in line with new regulations in Western Australia on EGM card-only play with binding time and loss limits.
Crown has already commenced work on upgrading its EGMs for card-only play. Half of all the machines have switched, with the remaining terminals to follow over the coming weeks.
The initiative, Crown said, represents a “significant investment” in gambling harm prevention, creating a safer space for guests.
What Will Carded Play Look Like at Crown Perth?
With card-only play, guests will be limited as to how long they can spend on EGMs. They can set a personal spend limit to help manage their play.
Other features include the ability to track their play and access Player Activity Statements to monitor spend on EGMs.
Crown added that its PlaySafe team will work to identify and provide support for players. PlaySafe is available 24 hours a day on-site or online.
“Carded Play is a cornerstone of our commitment to safer gambling,” Crown Perth CEO Brian Pereira said. “It allows us to better understand and support our guests while fostering a safer environment.
“Carded play empowers guests with more information about their playing habits, promotes informed choices and allows earlier intervention if someone needs help.”
