Crown Resorts has announced that members of staff at its casino in Perth, Australia will have the opportunity to take part in a new, approved college course on hospitality.
Crown College, the Registered Training Organisation of Crown Perth, will offer the Certificate III in Hospitality program. This will form part of its Food and Beverage (F&B) portfolio.
Crown Perth F&B team members who take part in the course can do so while still working at the property. Workers who complete the new initiative will receive a nationally recognized qualification.
Already, 11 current team members in Crown Perth’s F&B team have been enrolled in the 14-month course. This covers hospitality skills such as barista, cocktails, service and coaching.
Crown Aiming to Improve Hospitality Ecosystem in Western Australia
Crown Perth CEO Brian Pereira talked up the new course. He said it allows staff to both work and improve their longer-term employment prospects.
“Workforce development is one of the most powerful ways Crown contributes to Western Australia’s tourism economy,” he said. “By investing in training and upskilling, we’re strengthening not only our own venues, but the entire hospitality ecosystem in Western Australia.”
Crown added that it highlights its wider commitment to contributing to skills development, economic resilience and community well-being.
“With tourism and hospitality identified as strategic industries for Western Australia, Crown’s role in education and training supports long-term recovery and growth,” the operator said.
