As part of its ongoing restructuring, Australian operator Crown Resorts is expected to cut a total of 194 jobs in the near future, most of which will come at its flagship Crown Melbourne property.
This follows a recent round of 95 layoffs late last year at Crown Sydney.
In a statement to the Australian Associated Press, the company said, “As we enter the next phase of our transformation, we are reviewing our business to ensure we have the right structure to realize these plans.”
“This will impact some of our team members and we are working closely with them and their unions on their options through consultation which includes redeployment into other roles,” the statement continued.
That said, Crown has also said that the affected employees will have the chance to fill other roles in other departments.
In total, the company employs approximately 30,000 employees across all of its properties across the country, but mounting regulatory sanctions and C-suite turnover have severely impacted its outlook.
Crown Sydney has already closed one of its gaming floors for the time being and changed the operating hours for the other.
