Cuningham Group Completes Potawatomi Hotel

Wrapped in glass evoking waves on Lake Michigan, and topped by a glass-enclosed flame, the new 19-story, 381-room hotel at the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino recently made its debut. Designed by Cuningham Group Architecture, Inc., the hotel also offers a casual-dining restaurant, coffee shop, lobby bar/lounge and meeting space.

Cuningham Group Architecture, Inc. recently completed the 19-story, 381-room hotel tower at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino in Milwaukee. The 3½-star hotel also offers a casual-dining restaurant, coffee shop, lobby bar/lounge and meeting space.

At the hotel’s masonry base, the materials and color reflect industrial buildings typical of Milwaukee’s Menomonee Valley and tie into the existing casino. The building is wrapped in green-tinted transparent and opaque glass to reflect the modern entertainment offered inside, as well as the look of waves on Lake Michigan.

A “floating” prow-like roofline houses several suites. And a glass-enclosed “flame” at the top of the tower refers to the Potawatomi’s role as Keepers of the Fire. It’s illuminated by energy efficient light fixtures that create striking patterns and symbols in a colorful display.
