Gaming revenues in the Czech Republic grew 16 percent in 2019 over the year before. The improvement was attributed to better performance from online and land-based slots and growth in lottery sales.
Total gaming revenue rose to CZK36.27bn ($1.53 billion,) according to the Ministry of Finance. Amounts wagered rose 56.1 percent to CZK389.19bn for the year.
The top performer were slot vertical machines, which had the previous year been buffeted by bonus restrictions and customer verification requirements. This caused an increase in revenue of 20.9 percent. Online slots revenue was up 47.4 percent. Sports betting revenue increased 15.8 percent. Live games revenue remained about the same as the year before, according to the Ministry.
