Danish Gambling Industry Remains Steady

Gross gambling revenues in Denmark have remained steady for the last year. The Spillemyndigheden Danish gaming authority announced that online betting led the sector with a 38 percent rise while slots and land-based casinos saw a decline.

Denmark’s gross gambling revenue (GGR) remains steady, the country’s gaming regulator the Spillemyndigheden announced June 13, according to SBC News.

Revenues that include betting, online gaming, gaming machines and brick-and-mortar casinos rose 14 percent from DKK 525m (€70.4 million) ($77,055,193) in March 2022 to DKK 599m (€80.4 million) (87,994,986) in March 2023.

Leading the sector was sports betting, with a 38 percent rise from the year before. Online casino GGR rose 14 percent during the same period.

However, the performance of slot machines and land-based casinos declined 6 percent for the same for slots and 26 percent for the latter.

The authority also reported that the numbers of consumers who registered with ROFUS, the self-exclusion program, had risen to 42,029 at the close of April from 40,000 in March.
