Danish Gaming Board Will Field Ad Complaints

Denmark’s new Gambling Advertisement Board (Spilreklamenævnet) is a place where consumers can submit complaints related to gambling industry advertisements.

Most of the country’s casinos have signed up to support the board, as has the Danish Online Gambling Association. The first chairman will be Judge Jacob Scherfig of the Copenhagen City Court.

Board member Morten Rønde, director of the responsible gaming organization Spillebranchenm, said, “In the gaming industry, we are very aware that we bear a responsibility for the users who use games. With the Gaming Advertising Board, we now have an effective watchdog, which must help to ensure and maintain a responsible and ethical marketing of games.”

Newly adopted rules prohibit the display of gaming brands next to bank logos or the promotion of loans and credit cards next to gaming products.
