Danish Sportsbook Closed After Match-Fixing

Denmark’s former state gaming monopoly, Danske Spil, temporarily shuttered its Youbet sportsbook after the brand offered bets on Swedish amateur football despite a match-fixing scandal. Because the most popular betting competitions were suspended as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, supplier SBTech came up with new sports using data from Sportradar and Genius Sports.

Any events must meet the operator’s requirements in terms of transparency and being played to a sufficient professional level before it will accept bets.

According to Danish newspaper Politiken, Danske Spil was warned by several clubs, players and sports authorities about the problems of offering bets on Swedish amateur football.
