In Illinois, the $105 million Golden Nugget Danville casino opened to the public at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 27.
The Illinois Gaming Commission issued a temporary operating permit allowing the casino to open; a grand opening event will be scheduled later, officials said.
At the opening, Danville Development President James Wilmot said he was, “ecstatic, overjoyed, excited, incredibly grateful. The magnitude of this moment is more than just the immediate tax, immediate spend for construction. There’s a lot of suppliers that will be increasing their lines, bringing on more people. It’s a trickle effect for sure.”
The 30,000-square-foot venue offers more than 500 slot machines and 14 table games, plus a sportsbook with a digital sports betting platform.
Dining options include the renowned Saltgrass Steak House and a sports bar. Members of the 24K Select Club can earn exclusive rewards including free play, tier credits, event invitations and Comp Dollars, which can be redeemed for various perks and casino experiences.
Wilmot said future plans may include hotels, more dining venues and conference and meeting facilities. “The casino will continue to evolve and introduce new features based on the needs and demands of the community,” he said.
