Data Breech At Minnesota’s Grand Casino

A breach affecting 1,600 transactions took place from April 24 through October 9 at Grand Casino Mille Lacs in Onamia, Minnesota. Some of the card information later was used for fraudulent transactions. The casino has set up a website link and toll-free number for more information.

Officials at Grand Casino Mille Lacs in Onamia, Minnesota said between April 24 and October 9, about 1,600 transactions on certain payment cards were accessed by an unauthorized person using malware. Some of the cards later were used for fraudulent transactions. An investigation firm was hired to determine the scope of the activity.

The information that may have been accessed included customers’ names, card numbers and expiration dates. Because the casino did not acquire customer addresses with the card information, it cannot notify cardholders individually.

A link titled “Security Compromised Notice” has been posted to the casino’s website, www.grandcasinomn.com, listing steps customers can take. Customers also can call toll-free, 866-328-1987 for more information.

The casino issued a statement, noting, “Security and privacy are extremely important to Grand Casino Mille Lacs and we deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause.”
