Decision Pending on B.C. Casino

A decision is expected soon from the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) on Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Ltd.’s proposed $70 million Delta Cascades Casino Project, which would also include a 116-room hotel a Match Eatery & Public House, buffet restaurant and steak and seafood restaurant.

For the casino to move forward would require the demolition of Delta Town & Country Inn, which closed several weeks ago.

The BCLC said last week it expects to make a final decision on the project later this fall. The Delta city council approved it several months ago.

BCLC’s decision is considered by some to be a formality since the Lottery previously said that it considered the concept in line with its goals for such a facility. Once it pulls the trigger, demolition of the old hotel should follow rapidly, with the new casino complex anticipated to open in about two years.
