The first three floors of del Lago Resort & Casino’s new hotel are up and running, giving visitors to central New York their first look at the much-anticipated facility over the Fourth of July weekend.
“It’s going to be a great addition. It’s a beautiful product and I think it’s something the Finger Lakes and the region can be proud of,” said Jeff Babinski, del Lago’s executive vice president and general manager.
The rooms, which opened on Saturday, July 1, feature amenities that include wireless internet access, flat-screen TVs and an Intelity iPad hotel directory system for ordering food and other services and requesting assistance.
The hotel also features a café and cocktail lounge and a 14,000-square-foot spa equipped with treatment rooms, soaking tubs and private relaxation areas, a fitness center, a boutique and a full-service salon and Pilates, spin, yoga and Zumba classes.
When complete the hotel will offer 205 rooms and suites.
Babinski characterized the demand in the first week as “very good”.
“I think once people get exposed to the product and know that it’s open, it’s only going to catch on and you’ll see occupancy grow,” he said.
The hotel is the first to open at the four new commercial casinos New York voters authorized back in 2013. The second, coming to the Rivers Casino & Resort in Schenectady, is slated to debut later this month with 165 rooms and suites, a bar and lounge and spa services.
Rivers and del Lago both opened in February at a combined cost of $770 million.
