Delta Corp. Invests in Fantasy Sports

India’s largest gaming operator has invested in Mumbai-based fantasy sports company Halaplay Technologies. Delta Corp. is partnering in the venture with Nazara Technologies and another investor.

Delta Corp., India’s largest gaming operator, is getting into the fantasy-sports side of the business. The company has invested in Mumbai-based Halaplay Technologies along with Nazara Technologies and another investor.

The Economic Times reports that Halaplay, operator of a daily fantasy sports platform, raised a total of Rs40 crore (US$5.8 million) in a Series-A round of funding.

Around 100 million Indians are expected to play fantasy sport by the end of this year, according to a report from the Indian Federation of Sports Gaming and market research firm AC Nielsen.
