Denmark: Bonuses Can’t be Reactivated for Lapsed Players

The Danish Gambling Authority (Spillemyndigheden), has issued a ban on reactivating bonuses for lapsed players.

The new policy isn’t entirely new but it has now been included in the regulator’s responsible gaming guidance. That document included updates on “irresponsible marketing practices.”

According to the policy, “A player’s inactivity by the licensee may not be a selection criterion when awarding promotional offers,” adding, “Bonuses may therefore not be given on the basis of a player’s inactivity.”

It also warns that operators’ antennae should be alerted if a player requests a bonus, which could indicate that the player can’t really afford to play. The guidance also includes rules on deposit limits that players are required to set for themselves.
