Denmark Introduces Responsible Gaming Guidebook

Spillemyndigheden, Denmark’s Danish gaming regulator, has published a new responsible gambling guide that requires gaming providers to display an on-device clock showing how long users play. The clock must be available on gaming device screens at all times; users cannot scroll away from or minimize the clock.

According to CDC Gaming Reports, the guide also reminds providers:

  • To include responsible-use messaging and minimum-age limits on their websites, and to conduct thorough ID and age checks
  • To link to all state-supported gambling treatment facilities
  • That deposit limits are determined only by players
  • That players who request bonuses should be recognized as possible problem gamblers

Last March, Danish operators published a voluntary code of conduct, with the aim of strengthening consumer protection and lowering the risk of gambling addiction in the country. The code took effect in July 2019.
