Detroit Hollywood Casino Goes Cashless

Hollywood Casino at Greektown recently became the first Detroit casino to offer cardless, cashless payment, based on Bluetooth technology that connects mobile phones to the casino’s slots and table games via the My Choice app.

General Manager John Drake said, “This is industry leading technology. The casino industry, as much as it tries to be innovative, it’s not always the most innovative, so we’re excited to say that we’ve been able to get here and offer something the customer should expect.”

The cashless option allows guests to add funds, collect winnings and earn points without having to use cash or credit cards, although players still can use those options.

Besides cashless payment, the casino recently changed its name from Greektown Casino-Hotel. Owner Penn National Gaming invested $1 million in improvements at the self-park and VIP parking garage. Other changes include new food and beverage additions, and upgrades to the hotel rooms, hallways, elevator vestibules and lobby. A new “best-in-class” HVAC system was installed in the casino.
