The board of directors of the Seneca County Industrial Development Agency in Waterloo, New York recently voted 6-0 to approve financial aid to Indus 414 LLC, a subsidiary of the Indus Hospitality Group, for a 6-story hotel at the del Lago Resort & Casino in Tyre. The casino opened earlier this year. The IDA may provide Indus 414 LLC with sales and mortgage tax exemptions through a Payment In Lieu Of Taxes, or PILOT, agreement.
Indus 414 LLC must prepare a cost-benefits analysis, undergo a State Environmental Quality Review Act process and present the project at a public hearing. The full board could approve the financial aid request in October.
Jett Mehta of Indus said if the project is approved, a groundbreaking could be held in January 2018 and the hotel would open in January 2019. Amenities would include a pool, spa, conference room and banquet facilities. The hotel, a Hilton Garden Inn, would employ 100 people with an annual payroll of $1.5 million, Mehta said. He added, “We have hotels in Penn Yan and Geneva among other places. This one is based on the size of the casino and the number of games it offers. The projection is that del Lago would generate a 600- to 700-hotel room demand, so we feel this will help meet that demand and not hurt other nearby lodging facilities. Our hotel should help del Lago grow and they should help us grow as they develop their customer base.” He said the new hotel also would benefit Finger Lakes regional tourism, not just serve casino patrons.
